More on the "Draft E-Mail Debate"

Thought I'd add a few points regarding the Draft E-Mail Debate...

Rangel introduces bill to reinstate draft
Rumsfeld says he sees no need for military draft

Rep. Charles Rangel introduced a bill in Congress to reinstate the military draft, saying fighting forces should more closely reflect the economic makeup of the nation.

The New York Democrat told reporters his goal is two-fold: to jolt Americans into realizing the import of a possible unilateral strike against Iraq, which he opposes, and "to make it clear that if there were a war, there would be more equitable representation of people making sacrifices."

Kerry Says Draft May Return Under Bush

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry (news - web sites), citing the war in Iraq (news - web sites) and other trouble spots in the world, raised the possibility Wednesday that a military draft could be reinstated if voters re-elect President Bush (news - web sites). Kerry said he would not bring back the draft and questioned how fairly it was administered in the past.

Whether or not plans for a draft are in the works, the idea is something that should be in the minds of all Americans of draft age because they will be the ones to be drafted. John Kerry promises not to reinstate the draft. But believe me, if plans do exist to reinstate the draft (after Donald Rumsfeld stated publicly back in 2003 that there was "no need"), President Bush might find himself in an "impeachable" situation... or not get elected because the ones who could get drafted voted him out of office.

I apologize if any of you thought I believed the political tactic was wrong - it's not. If the Republicans can attempt to scare voters (which they are very, very good at), so can the Democrats.

God Bless...
